Conferences

Conferences will be held on Tuesday and Thursday night this week from 4:00 to 7:00.  In the past, we have been able to offer childcare for those families who needed it for the evening.  Unfortunately, due to a lack of staffing, we will not have childcare coverage for this round of conferences.  If you had planned on this service, you will need to make alternative arrangements.  We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

Thanks and have a great week!

Math At Home

Use only the 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, and aces(1s) from a deck of cards.  Each player writes the numbers 1-12 on a piece of paper. Then each player picks two cards and adds up the numbers on them. The player can mark off that sum on the paper or cross off the two numbers on the cards. Who will be the first to cross of all 12 numbers on the list?

Math

At home continue to have your child practice his/her basic math facts by using a deck of cards, dice, flashcards, etc.

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books competition is approaching very soon. I have been encouraging those participants who are going to be involved in the battle on Feb. 1st to spend some time each day with their partner discussing what is happening or has happened in each story. I have also told the students that it is OK to reread some or all of the stories as well to refresh their memory. Keep reading!

Guided Reading

Please spend time listening to your child read every night and be sure to ask your child about what he/she is reading. Yellow reading sheets should be signed each night stating how many minutes your child has read. I encourage the students to practice math in some way each night at home as well. Thanks for helping your child grow as a learner at home!

Math

  • At home continue to have your child practice his/her basic math facts by using a deck of cards, dice, flashcards, etc.
  • Your child can also work on counting coins up to $1.00.
  • Your child can also work on telling time to the hour, to the 5 minute, and to the 1 minute.

Scissors

Some students have lost or misplaced their scissors.  Please check with your child to see if he/she needs a new one purchased.

Snack Time

We will continue to have a snack break within our classroom daily. Please make sure to send a snack or a few snacks along with your child each day/week. This little extra boost of energy helps the students get through their day!

Dry Air

The air is dry indeed. Several students have come to me with chapped lips or dry hands. It might be a good idea to send to school with your child a small bottle of hand lotion and some chapstick to keep in their locker.
