Have a Great Summer!

This will be my last newsletter of the year. A big thank you to all of you for your constant support and dedication to your child’s education. I will remember this group of kiddos fondly well into the future. It has been an incredible year and I am very fortunate to have been able to help your child grow as a second grader. I hope everyone has a very safe, relaxing, and memorable summer!

Phonics

This week in phonics your child spent time working with the "Bossy R" within words as in ar, er, ir, or, and ur. Using these letter patterns your child made words, sorted words, and played a game focusing around the above letter patterns.

Track & Field Day Reminders

  • If possible please have your child wear a blue shirt.
  • Having your child wear layers would not be a bad idea either.
  • Send a water bottle or two along with your child.
  • Please put sunscreen on your child before he/she leaves the house in the morning.
  • Students are not allowed to leave the school grounds for lunch. You may bring in lunch if you like but students need to stay at school. At the end of the day you can check in with me, sign out your child at the checkout table, and then leave for the weekend!
This is such a fun day for MLE students and I hope many of you are able to come and watch!

City Park

Just a reminder that next Tuesday your child will be walking to the City Park. We will be eating lunch back at school so all your child will need to bring to the City Park is a water bottle and your child should wear tennis shoes. Twenty Five
Place a deck of cards face down. The first player turns over a card. The next player turns over a card, adds it to the previous card and says the sum aloud. Play continues until someone has a card that adds up to a sum greater than 25. When that happens, the player will subtract rather than add. Play continues until someone gets a sum of exactly 25.
