Please remember to send warm clothes with your child to wear outside during recess time including boots, gloves, a hat, and snowpants. I think this time winter is here to stay!
Next weeks spelling focus is working with words that have ear, ir, and ur within them. As your child studies next weeks spelling words draw attention to the e, i, and u r-controlled letter patterns within each of their words.

Please spend time reading with your child every night a book from in your child's bookbag. As you read with your child be sure to sign the yellow reading sheet that is located in your child’s bookbag. Be sure to also do some type of math practice each night and sign the bottom of your child's yellow reading sheet nightly. Your child's bookbag should be brought home and brought back to school every day! Thanks for helping to promote additional reading and math at home!
Keep practicing addition and subtraction math facts at home. Play a game, shake dice, work on Friday math packets, or use a deck of cards to help reinforce facts.

Next weeks spelling focus is working with words that have the or pattern within them as in score and fort. As your child practices his/her spelling words all next week, encourage him/her to write some sentences using some of their spelling words.
During whole group reading instruction and small group reading instruction this week our class worked on the reading skills of main idea and supporting details. Continue to ask your child to identify the main idea and details within various stories they read at home.
Maple Lake High School-Rachel's Challenge Club is teaming up to SCARE HUNGER! From now until Nov. 13th donations are being accepted for our Backpack Buddy families, for Thanksgiving baskets, and for the Annandale Food Shelf. Please consider donating any items if you are able. All donations can be brought to our classroom. Canned green beans, corn, pineapple, cranberries, cream of mushroom soup, pancake mix, etc. are just some of the items that can be donated.
