Guided Reading

This week all guided reading groups worked on fluency and expression by reading a Reader's Theater script in groups.

Phonics

This week in phonics students worked with irregular plurals. Sometimes students have to change the spelling of a singular word to make it plural such as man-men. Other words require no change in spelling when going from singular to plural such as deer-deer.

Writing

In writing students are doing a research project focused on a specific state. Students will continue to research their state, write down facts, and then present their final writing projects.

Science

In science this week your child learned about weather and the different types of precipitation and characteristics associated with each season.

I Love to Read Tracking Minutes

We are over halfway through I Love to Read month. We need many more school-wide minutes to reach our school reading goal. Please encourage your child to read at least 15 minutes nightly, to record their minutes on the I love to Read airplane tracking sheet, and to turn in their reading minutes every Monday. Keep on reading!!

I Love to Read Monthly Reading Calendar

Please make sure your child is reading at home nightly and keeping track of how many minutes he/she reads each night and then recording those minutes onto the I Love to Read weekly airplane recording sheet. Every Monday your child should cut apart and return to school his/her weekly minutes read.
