Spelling Focus

The spelling focus for Week 10 is working with words that have ear, ir, and ur within them. As your child studies his/her spelling words draw attention to the e, i, and u r-controlled letter patterns within each of their words.

  • A sentence that tells when or where
  • A sentence that uses dialogue " "

Veterans Day

Math

 In math students are working on identifying and counting various combinations of coins up to $1.00 and beyond. Grab some change at home at practice counting money with your child.

Guided Reading

This week in Guided Reading your child spent time identifying the main idea and details within various stories. Please make sure to sign your child's yellow guided reading sheet each night once math and reading has been completed so your child doesn't lose 5 minutes of recess time.

Battle of the Books

This week your child was introduced to what the Battle of the Books is. Students are not required to participate in this competition but I would love to see many of my students participate. If your child is going to participate in the Battle of the Books be sure to send back to school the signed permission slip along with who his/her partner will be. Happy Reading!!
