Battle of Books

The Second Grade Battle of the Books will take place on Thursday, February 13th from 8:20-9:50 in the High School auditorium. The students have been working so hard on getting through all of the books and writing down the most important information from each story.

Writing

In writing students are continuing to work on their realistic fiction stories. This week students worked on developing strong characters within their stories and students found areas within their stories to add regular past tense verbs.

Math

In math students are beginning a unit focusing around mental addition. The goal of this unit is for students to see patterns among numbers and be able to add the tens and ones mentally to a number within their head. Please continue to have your child practice his/her basic math facts by using a deck of cards, dice, flashcards, etc. If you have any extra decks of cards laying around your house that you would be willing to donate to our classroom it would be greatly appreciated.
