Spring Break is upon us and it is a great time for your child to recharge his/her batteries for the last stretch of the school year. Play some cards with your child, visit family and friends, read, and have your child be active every day during Spring Break. Have a well deserved break!

Friday's Elementary breakfast menu will be adjusted due to today's late
start. Friday's breakfast entree will be the egg and cheese bagel
sandwich vs. the originally planned sausage, egg and cheese breakfast
sandwich.
Flip the sound is a strategy good readers use when they come to a word that doesn't sound right or make sense. Knowing the multiple sounds a letter or letter combination can make and being able to flip the sounds around is an essential skill for young readers to learn.
In class students have been working on making inferences. An inference means figuring out something that is not directly stated within a text. Inferences are often made based off of one or more clues from within a text. When reading texts, author's don't always tell readers everything but they include clues that readers can put together for themselves. Making inferences helps readers better understand the ideas within a text.
In math students are beginning to work on subtracting two-digit numbers with and without borrowing. Through practice and repetition students will be subtraction masters by the end of this math unit as well!
Students are just getting started on a top project, which
focuses on force and motion. Students are making some tops here in class out
of cardboard to get some experience. A note came home in this weeks Wednesday envelope about making a top at home. We are asking that all tops be brought to
school by March 13.
In phonics your child worked with words that ended with ing or ed. Throughout the week your child spelled, sorted, and read words with the above two endings.
