Making Inferences

In class students have been working on making inferences. An inference means figuring out something that is not directly stated within a text. Inferences are often made based off of one or more clues from within a text. When reading texts, author's don't always tell readers everything but they include clues that readers can put together for themselves. Making inferences helps readers better understand the ideas within a text.
